On the radar for this month: Georgia Theatre’s grand opening, Piedmont Park’s arts and crafts festival, and Theatrical Outfit’s production about the Green Book
HuffPo has named UGA among its Most Hipster Colleges. Interestingly, they chose this old photo of the Georgia Theatre, hardly hipster central, to illustrate their point. That’s OK — we’re glad the theater got some love, but for prime hipster viewing, the 40 Watt side of town is a better locale.
Color us surprised. UGA just feels like the anti-hipster college, but we’ll take whatever mild accolades we can get.

Two years ago this month, the Georgia Theatre was nearly destroyed in an early morning blaze. As music fans tearfully gathered outside the still-smoldering 122-year-old structure at 215 North Lumpkin Street, owners Wilmot Green and Scott Orvold vowed to rebuild.
